Why are borrowing costs rising across the world?

Rising bond yields are increasing borrowing costs for governments, businesses and households after more than a decade of cheap financing. Persistent inflation, geopolitical tensions and expectations that central banks may keep rates high for longer are adding risk premiums to heavily indebted governments and pushing banks to charge companies and homeowners more.
