France targets Shein and Temu with new fast-fashion levy
France will begin charging a penalty this week on cheaply made clothing sold by ultra-fast-fashion retailers. The fee could approach €20 per item by 2030 and targets platforms including Shein, Temu and AliExpress under a June law addressing disposable fashion’s environmental costs, while H&M and Zara are exempt.
