EconomyBloomberg records biggest monthly rise in agricultural commodity prices since 2012

Conflict and weather conditions drove agricultural commodity prices to their biggest monthly increase in 14 years in August. The Bloomberg Agriculture Spot Index, tracking 10 major agricultural and food commodities, rose 13% to $434. Wheat was a major contributor, reaching a three-year high amid the situation around Black Sea ports. Heat damaged corn crops in the US and Europe, while El Niño may add risks for next year’s crops, including cocoa.
