CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov said it is premature to anticipate Armenia’s withdrawal because the country’s leadership and people may hold different views. He said any serious discussion of Armenia’s membership at the Collective Security Council meeting in Moscow in November would be for member-state leaders to decide. Armenia’s prime minister Nikol Pashinyan has said he favors expulsion and does not plan to deepen participation.

CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov said that any decision to expel Armenia belongs to the organization’s Collective Security Council, made up of the member states’ supreme commanders. He added that all circumstances and factors should be considered.
