CoinDesk’s Joshua DeVos writes that demand for tokenized equities is surging, with perpetual futures growing from $16 billion to more than $590 billion in a year. But that headline growth obscures the key issue: tokens sharing a ticker can grant very different rights. Whether the underlying structure conveys real ownership or a synthetic claim determines the risks and protections for holders.
