Australian delivery drivers to receive minimum $31.30 an hour in ‘world-leading’ decision
Australia’s Fair Work Commission has approved a landmark agreement setting a minimum hourly rate of $31.30 for delivery drivers. Gig workers will also receive insurance coverage for injuries sustained while working. The commission’s new minimum-standards order applies to workers delivering food, drinks or groceries on demand, as well as the digital platforms that hire them. It is due to take effect on 17 August.
