TechSaudi man charged with planting ‘sophisticated’ recording device in OpenAI office

Federal prosecutors say OpenAI engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan secretly placed a recording device in a TV’s USB port in an executive conference room at the company’s San Francisco office and returned to check it on 5 October. OpenAI says it fired him and found no indication that source code, model weights or customer data were improperly accessed or taken. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
