Up to 500 high schools across France will fully or partly suspend lessons on Monday, the education minister said. The move follows days of sometimes violent protests over teacher shortages, deteriorating school buildings and overcrowded classrooms. The minister said 24 schools had been burned or ransacked since the protests began.
