EconomyChina opens trade shortcut to Southeast Asia

China opened the 134.2-kilometer Pinglu Canal in Guangxi, linking the Xijin Reservoir with Qinzhou Port and giving southwestern inland areas a shorter route to the coast and overseas markets. The waterway is expected to cut logistics costs and save more than 5 billion yuan annually while supporting further opening-up in western China and trade with Southeast Asia.
