EconomyHow the Pinglu Canal could reshape China-ASEAN trade

China’s 134.2-kilometer Pinglu Canal in Guangxi is scheduled to open on September 16, linking the Xijiang River shipping network with the Beibu Gulf. It is expected to shorten routes from southwestern China to Southeast Asia by more than 560 kilometers, lower logistics costs and strengthen the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and regional supply chains.
