WorldTyphoon Champi approaches Japan

Heavy rain and strong winds are hitting Japan’s Ishigaki island as Typhoon Champi draws closer. Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration said the storm was about 137 miles east of Taiwan. Its projected path takes it just off northeastern Taiwan, north toward China’s coast, and eventually into southern Japan.
