Taiwan is preparing for a possible direct hit from Typhoon Champi. Though it has weakened from super-typhoon strength, gusts remain near 190 km/h and torrential rain is expected. At least one person has died, more than 1,300 have evacuated, and businesses, schools and hundreds of flights have been shut or cancelled.
