China rolls out US$54 billion package to bolster insurers and banks
China has launched a roughly 360 billion yuan (US$54 billion) capital-injection package for its biggest state-owned insurers and banks. Led by the Ministry of Finance, the move advances Beijing’s long-standing ambition to turn the country into a global financial powerhouse. China Life Insurance Company will receive 35 billion yuan to strengthen its position.
