ScienceWMO says El Niño is strengthening and expected to peak in December
The World Meteorological Organization says El Niño will intensify before reaching its forecast peak in December and could be among the strongest since at least 1950. It is almost certain to last through February 2027, with above-average temperatures and altered rainfall patterns raising drought and flood risks in different regions.
