TechMistral says “Le Chonk” can challenge top AI models
French company Mistral has unveiled Mistral Large 4, nicknamed “Le Chonk,” a freely available 1-trillion-parameter model it says can compete with leading US and Chinese models. Available in preview, it can be used and customized by anyone; a final release is expected by month’s end. It is optimized for coding, cyberdefense, and specialized fields including manufacturing, finance, and electrical engineering.
