PoliticsLithuanian parliament backs lifting nuclear weapons ban
Lithuania’s parliament has passed the first reading of a constitutional amendment that would remove the ban on deploying weapons of mass destruction on its territory, potentially allowing allied nuclear weapons to be stationed there. The measure passed 106-18, with six abstentions. A final vote is expected on January 12 and needs at least 94 of 141 Seimas members. Opponents called for a referendum.
