SocietyRussians held at US immigration detention center plan hunger strike over poor conditions
Fourteen Russians detained at the D. Ray James Correctional Facility in Folkston, Georgia, have signed a collective complaint and say they plan to start a hunger strike. They allege inadequate medical care, poor food and water, cold cells, excessive noise, and restricted communication with lawyers and the outside world. The facility is operated by GEO Group and was converted from a federal prison into an immigration detention center in 2025.
