SocietyFrance: Trade unions join students in major demonstration

Nationwide blockades and protests are planned in France over understaffed, underfunded schools and poor learning conditions. The Justice Ministry says 5,060 people have been arrested since the movement began, 87% of them minors. The government is examining demands including teacher replacements, shorter school days, longer lunch breaks and school repairs.
