TechStudy examines how connected cars share data and who receives it

Researchers from Northeastern University and Consumer Reports tested 21 cars from 19 brands and found traffic going to advertisers, trackers, and Big Tech companies including Microsoft and Adobe. Using companion apps may worsen the privacy problem. Measuring real vehicles across driving and stationary scenarios also revealed which domains they contacted and when data was transmitted.
