Researchers tested 21 late-model vehicles and found that every one transmitted data over Wi-Fi to at least one third-party domain, while more than half contacted advertising, tracking, or analytics companies. Cars collect details such as locations, acceleration, and braking, but owners have little visibility or control over how the data is used.
