PoliticsSwiss voters reject stricter neutrality rules that would curb Nato cooperation
Swiss voters rejected a far-right-backed initiative to enshrine a strict version of neutrality in the constitution, with about 70% voting against it and every canton opposing it. The proposal would have limited cooperation with Nato and barred sanctions against warring states unless authorised by the UN. The government and most parties said it would leave Switzerland less secure and less reliable internationally.
