TechApple ordered to pay $5.7 billion over haptic patents

Haptics company Taction sued Apple in 2021, alleging infringement of two patents. A federal jury in San Diego has awarded Taction more than $5.7 billion, finding that Apple’s Taptic Engine in Apple Watches and iPhones used its vibration-based tactile technology without a proper license.
