PoliticsRussia opposes new ‘Western seats’ on UN Security Council — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Western countries are already overrepresented on the UN Security Council and that its reform should add representatives from Asia, Africa and Latin America. Moscow cannot allow new Western seats, especially for Germany and Japan, while Russia supports permanent seats for Brazil and India and seeks to address Africa’s interests under the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration.
