Hurricane Polo is moving toward Mexico’s Baja California region after reaching 892 millibars on 22 September, making it the second-most intense hurricane recorded in the east Pacific. With sustained winds near 150mph, torrential rain and dangerous seas, it is expected to remain powerful as it tracks north-west. A tropical storm is also bringing heavy rain and strong winds to India’s Odisha, where schools have closed.
