SocietyDrug cartels seek to make Russia a major cocaine transit hub, expert says
Alexander Yevtushenko of Kuban State University says international drug cartels are trying to establish a foothold in Russia and use it as a major transit route for cocaine moving from Latin America to the European Union. The FSB previously seized 311 kilograms in the Moscow Region, while other recent seizures included 1.5 tons and 500 kilograms. Yevtushenko said the trafficking is reaching an industrial scale.
