Hurricane Polo has intensified into one of the Pacific’s most powerful cyclones in decades and is expected to pass near Mexico’s southwestern coast as a Category 5 storm. The Miami-based National Hurricane Center called it “extremely dangerous”; maximum sustained winds reached 165 miles per hour.
