CultureAmateur archaeologist unearths Germany’s largest trove of Roman coins

Amateur archaeologist Oliver Riedl discovered nearly 1,000 Roman silver coins near Wesseling, south of Cologne. An expert excavation recovered 934 denarii dating to the second century AD, which regional authorities describe as Germany’s largest hoard from Emperor Hadrian’s era.
