Ukraine’s reconstruction, infrastructure and transport minister, Nikolay Kalashnik, said 533 Ukrainian Railways locomotives and 75 owned by private industrial companies have been damaged since February 2022. He said Russia is systematically targeting the rail network. The Carpathian Eight agreed to create a railway coalition to provide locomotives, funding, energy-resilience measures and modernization, including $100 million for used locomotives and a proposed 130 million euros for critical needs.
