Researchers have formally identified Leopardus tilcayo, a previously unknown tiger cat living in Bolivia’s Yungas cloud forests. It is the first new living cat species named and described in more than a century. DNA analysis found five genetically distinct tiger cat species, and the team also described a new subspecies in Peru.
