As geopolitical tensions and market uncertainty persist, executives are increasingly considering the yuan for international trade settlements, fundraising, liquidity management and investment allocation. By the end of 2025, the People’s Bank of China had bilateral currency-swap agreements with more than 30 countries and regions, worth over 4.3 trillion yuan (US$641 billion).
