The Azcatitlan Codex has returned to Mexico for the first time since 1840 and is on display at Mexico City’s National Museum of Anthropology. Loaned by France’s Bibliothèque Nationale, the richly illustrated manuscript traces Aztec migration, the founding of Tenochtitlan, its rulers and the arrival of the Spanish. Mexico has sought its return for years, but the current arrangement lasts only through December.
