The EU had 23.2 million primary students in 2024, a 0.2% decline from the previous year. Numbers are still 2.9% higher than in 2014, but national trends diverged sharply, with the biggest increases in Luxembourg and Slovenia and major declines in Poland, Croatia and Portugal.
