WorldAvalanche in southern Russia kills 13, mostly National Guard troops on training trip

At least 13 climbers died after an avalanche swept through the Bezengi Gorge in Kabardino-Balkaria, with rescuers still searching for four people. Sources said 12 of the dead were National Guard troops and other security personnel training in the mountains. Rosgvardiya confirmed some victims had served in its ranks but denied that Vityaz special forces fighters were among them. Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a negligence case.
