EconomyPinglu Canal to open to navigation on September 16
The Pinglu Canal in Guangxi will officially begin navigation on September 16, authorities announced. The 134.2-kilometer waterway links the Xijiang River with the Beibu Gulf, can handle vessels of up to 5,000 tonnes and will shorten the route from southwest China to the gulf by more than 560 kilometers compared with the route through Guangzhou Port.
