WorldCGTN on the frontline: Inside the ongoing mudslide rescue
A powerful mudslide swept across the China–Nepal border on August 26, destroying buildings and roads and cutting communications and power. More than 2,300 personnel joined the rescue operation, while a week of round-the-clock work reopened the G216 highway to Gyirong Port on September 2. Chinese researchers said the disaster began with a high-altitude glacier collapse in Nepal and developed into a massive mudslide.
