Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov attended the G20 summit in person for the first time since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and met U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. They discussed Trump’s plan to end the war and economic cooperation, but Bessent said nothing else was possible until the war ended. European officials protested, and Siluanov was excluded from the group photo. The visit nonetheless showed Washington’s readiness to reopen high-level channels with Moscow despite objections from European allies.
