WorldNepal flood: Death toll tops 1,000 as rescue operations continue

Nepalese authorities say about 4,000 people remain unaccounted for as teams with search dogs comb through mud, rocks and debris left by last week’s flash floods near the Nepal-China Himalayan border. Nepal has reported 987 deaths and China 16, while roads and unstable terrain hamper rescue efforts. Around 500 workers may be trapped in hydropower tunnels.
