CultureJapan: 1,800 people pull 360-tonne Hirosaki Castle keep by hand

Around 1,800 people in northern Japan joined forces to pull the 360-tonne Hirosaki Castle keep by hand. The keep was moved in 2015 to allow repairs to its earthquake-damaged stone wall and is now being brought nearer its original position using hikiya, which moves buildings on rollers without dismantling them. Participants were chosen by lottery, and the effort will continue until the end of August.
