A collection of 688 handwritten notes by Mahatma Gandhi sold for $1.7 million at a Mumbai auction, the highest price ever paid for an Indian historical document at auction, according to Saffronart. Gandhi wrote the notes to close associate Anand Hingorani between 1944 and 1946, covering themes including truth, God and non-violence.
