The Trump administration sanctioned ICC President Tomoko Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused them of pursuing investigations, arrests or prosecutions of officials from governments that have not accepted ICC jurisdiction. The measures restrict US transactions with them and block access to the US financial system.
