The United States has sanctioned ICC President Tomoko Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye, accusing the court of overreach against countries that never joined it, including through its arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the ICC “illegitimate”; the court said the move threatens international justice and vowed not to be deterred.
