WorldTaiwan simulates wartime internet blackout for the first time
Taiwan’s annual urban resilience exercise simulated a wartime internet outage for the first time. Mobile networks were slowed across 14 central and northern counties and cities for 30 minutes, affecting an estimated 17 million people, to test responses to damage to undersea cables and other critical communications infrastructure. Matsu residents have experienced a real outage lasting 50 days.
