CultureBroadcasters to be barred from hosting Eurovision if their state is in ‘armed conflict’

Eurovision organisers say broadcasters will lose eligibility to host the song contest when their state is involved in an “armed conflict” or a “sensitive geopolitical situation.” They say the rule is intended to preserve a “safe and welcoming environment” for participants. The contest is traditionally hosted by the broadcaster representing the previous year’s winner. Bulgaria is due to stage the 2027 event after its singer Dara won in May.
