WorldKurdish hunger striker says ICE force-feeding ‘mentally broke me’
Kurdish filmmaker and activist Gabar Choli has spoken publicly for the first time about being force-fed during eight months in US immigration detention in Texas. He said Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained him after his asylum application was denied and subjected him to the coercive procedure, often twice daily. Choli, who was later deported and now lives in Canada, described severe physical and psychological harm from the treatment. International human rights groups widely regard force-feeding as torture.
