Sergei Mulivanov, a 59-year-old Latvian who vocally supported Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, moved to Russia two years ago. Arrested in April on fraud charges, he signed a military contract while in pre-trial detention and was sent to the front in late October. His friends and lawyer say he was tricked into signing.
