WorldEuropean Commission says refrigerator cyberattack aimed to undermine EU food security
The European Commission called the cyberattack on grocery-store refrigeration systems across the EU an attempt to undermine food security. Agriculture and Food Commissioner Christophe Hansen said food security was not threatened, but European businesses suffered real damage. Refrigerators at dozens of supermarkets in Belgium, Luxembourg and other EU countries warmed overnight, damaging food stocks and equipment worth tens of millions of euros. The attack exploited software vulnerabilities also used in a similar incident in France in October.
