PoliticsAs Ceuta returns to normal, far right vilifies Spain’s immigration policy
The death toll from last week’s mass migrant rush from Morocco into Spain’s enclave of Ceuta has risen to at least 72, officials said Sunday after five more bodies were found along the North African coast. Moroccan authorities put the number of deaths at 11. Spanish officials said about 60,000 people entered Ceuta, while more than 48,000 returned to Morocco within 48 hours and additional returns took place over the weekend. With calm restored in Ceuta, the far right has used the incident to attack Pedro Sánchez’s government and its immigration policy.
