WorldTrump backs away from Iran strikes after Saudi alarm and Tehran threats
Donald Trump said on Saturday night that the United States would postpone any further strikes on Iran if a deal to end the months-long conflict could be reached quickly. The move was presented as his latest retreat after extravagant threats to hit the Tehran regime hard. Reports said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had called Trump to raise concerns about the proposed strikes. Iran also warned neighbouring countries of decisive retaliation if the US attacked. Kuwait reported an Iranian drone strike, while two ships were attacked off Oman in the Strait of Hormuz.
