WorldSpanish PM calls for urgent EU meeting over ‘selfish’ responses to Ceuta crisis
Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez has urged an emergency meeting of EU interior ministers following the mass crossing into Ceuta this week. He condemned what he described as a “selfish, polarising and unlawful reaction” from some member states. More than 50,000 people reportedly crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave on Thursday and Friday. At least 67 people died while attempting to get across a breakwater barrier, including people who drowned and others who were crushed in the rush.
