WorldUN raises ‘ethnic cleansing’ concerns over Israeli displacement operation in Hebron
The United Nations said Monday that Israel’s forced removal of more than 3,000 Palestinians from their homes in Hebron, in the West Bank, raised concerns about “ethnic cleansing.” The operation followed the killing of two Israeli soldiers by Palestinian gunmen at a checkpoint near the city on Friday. UN rights chief Volker Turk called for the “aggressive operation” to end and said collective punishment gravely violates international law.
